Our collection of books is overwhelming our shelf space. We have hundreds of historical tomes on every subject from the first pioneers; the growth of the district; the river traffic; shipwrecks and plane crashes.
We also hold many of the wider community histories including the Clarence River and the Tweed River.
Our collection of World War I & II reference books covers all the services Army, Navy and Air Force and includes many books from the Women’s service – WAAAF and Nursing.
Triangle Newspaper
The Triangle weekly newspaper was first published in 1954 with June McMaster Yabsley as the editor.
It was produced on Thursday and distributed to Woodburn, Evans Head, Broadwater and Coraki.
Jean Isobel Hartam-Bayes from Evans Head took over in 1959 and continued to publish for the next 15 years.
The museum has digitised approximately 80 editions and, for a small research fee, the transcripts can be examined for family history references. Email for more information.
